Nintendo Focuses On “Fun Experiences Rather Than Technical Power”

Nintendo

Nintendo held its 80th General Shareholders Meeting in June, where the company mentioned how it focused on fun experiences rather than the technical power of the console.

Director and Senior Executive Officer Ko Shiota said that Nintendo focuses on fun experiences rather than the technical power of the console. He added that the number of families playing together on the Nintendo Switch reaffirms the value of having a dedicated gaming console.

Bringing the technical power of a console to the spotlight has never been Nintendo’s forte. It’s always something we’ve seen between Xbox and PlayStation. Currently, Microsoft promotes its upcoming Xbox Series X console as the world’s most powerful console.

Focusing on “fun experiences” makes complete sense for Nintendo. Take the recent example of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The game is relaxing, intriguing, and fun to play with friends and family. New Horizons became so popular globally, Nintendo fell short of consoles to meet the rising global demand.

According to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, ever since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the global supply has been difficult to maintain. The company, however, is taking the issue very seriously and has already ramped up the production.

Although its upcoming games aren’t affected by COVID-19, Nintendo’s future releases will be severely affected. In fact, the production of consoles took a hit during the months of February and March.

Nintendo is still focused on the Switch series of consoles as it wishes to extend its life cycle.
