Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch surpassed all previous Nintendo hardware sales records to become the best-selling console in the US for the five-day period from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday.

It surpassed the Wii sales with a +117% change as compared to last year. Consumer spent more than $250 million on Nintendo products this sale season, crowning Nintendo Switch to have a best-selling week in the States.

People weren’t just buying the Nintendo Switch, but also other family systems like the Nintendo 3DS, NES Classic Edition and the Super NES Classic. Both Pokemon Let’s Go games – Pikachu and Eevee have sold over 1.5 million units combined, since their launch on November 16th.

Not just Pokemon, Super Mario Party hit a lifetime milestone of 1 million unit sold to become the fastest selling game in the Mario Party series and the fifth million-selling first-party Switch game in the US alone. Other games in the million-dollar list are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.

Nintendo Switch has successfully sold over 8.2 million units since its March 2017 launch. Overall, it was an overwhelming sales season for Nintendo and its consumers. Business seems good!

  1. This benefits the users as well as Nintendo. Now every major developer/publisher will have to consider bringing out more games for it. Sure, the hardware might not be beefy enough for huge projects, but, really… After seeing the astounding DOOM port considering porting big projects doesn’t seem to be that big an undertaking, seeing how it could benefit the developer immensely. Quite a market, why lose it when all you need is mobilize the team of people to port it, even if takes from half a year to a year ? For example I am completely comfortable with an idea of current Hitman being ported with downgraded visuals and smaller maps and whatnot. In the end it’s all about the game and not how pretty it looks. Not much of an eye-jerker.

    • Ha ha ha ha, the delusion is strong here. Most 3rd parties like io or rockstar aint going to waste resources to down port games on switch. The reason most 3rd parties like ea wont port their great games to switch is because of weak hard ware and the way nintendo use to bully and rob all 3rd parties back in the 80’s and 90’s. Look it up, its a great read on how crummy nintendo use to be when they had a monopoly back in the day. The lack of real 3rd party support is karma biting them in the @$$ for their past sins.
