One Piece Live Action Official Trailer released: Is it going to be any good?

Going Merry in One Piece Live Action Official Trailer

One Piece Live Action might not fit the mold of a stereotypical Live Action and fortunately so. One Piece Live Action Official Trailer has been released and the reception has been positive for the most part. Fans are looking forward to the series and everybody is hoping for a good Live Action, breaking the chain of numerous bad ones.

The official trailer looks promising but not without some suspicions about the potential changes in the storyline.

One piece is absurd and unnatural in every way possible. Whether it’s the character designs or the devil fruit powers. Based on the trailer, the live-action has nailed the character designs and the depiction of the powers of the devil fruit has also exceeded expectations. Considering the hits and the misses, will the One Piece Live Action be any good?

One Piece Live Action new trailer breakdown

The trailer starts with Gol D. Roger’s execution which isn’t particularly good or bad. The official trailer has introduced different characters and settings. We get introduced to Alvida, Garp, Mihawk, Koby, and Arlong’s crew. Baratie looks very accurate to the manga and anime. Arlong’s presence in Baratie is strange but with solid reasoning it might turn into a welcome change.

The trailer captures the essence of One Piece and the actors have phenomenally depicted the Strawhats, especially Mackenyu and Taz Skylar. The depiction of Buggy is slightly different from the Buggy we’re familiar with. Koby looks great and might be the most accurate out of all the characters.

The sequences in Cocoyashi village and Arlong Park are done well with minor deviations it seems. The fighting scenes are not smooth and the wire effect is evident.

Will One Piece Live Action be any good?

With the Official Trailer in the perspective, it can be said that we’ll get a fairly good Live Action adaptation of One Piece. At the same time, we need to keep some things in mind:

  • The fans are already hopeful for the future of Live-action, but it might fail to attract new fans. As the world is too absurd to just directly jump into
  • The execution of the changes will also affect the reception of the series. Oda’s involvement in the series can maybe guarantee a smoother execution of the changes. For example: Arlong in Baratie.
  • The fighting scenes look odd and the climax of all arcs is battle-heavy.

Conclusion

The fans should keep an open mind because One Piece is over the top in multiple ways. Also, Live Action as a medium has a lot of limitations. The crew and the cast seem dedicated to making a good adaptation hence Oda’s involvement in the entire process. As long as one is not nitpicking, it feels like the adaptation will be good.

The trailer didn’t come without flaws but fans seemed more than eager to focus on the positives. If the attitude towards the Live Action remains the same, the whole thing might turn out to be fun even with the shortcomings.
