Fans of Oshi No Ko manga will have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter, as multiple manga leakers have confirmed that Oshi No Ko manga will be going on a month-long hiatus before the release of Chapter 126.

While this isn’t entirely out of character for the manga’s author, (Kaguya-sama fans know the struggle), this hiatus feels like a bomb dropped out of nowhere. The last chapter ended with a shocking cliffhanger that left readers in suspense and eager for more. Thankfully, instead of an indefinite hiatus, we have a confirmed release date for chapter 126, as well as word of a mini-series featuring Mem-Cho.

Why did Oshi No Ko Manga go on Hiatus until September?

Some fans are playfully suggesting that Oshi No Ko’s hiatus might just be due to the author’s extended Apex Legends gaming session. And to be fair, the timing lines up. Apex Legends recently rolled out a new season with fresh content (a new character, map, and weapons), so its plausible that Akasaka just needed a minute to sit down and enjoy the game.

Jokes aside though, the official reason behind the hiatus is yet to be confirmed. It is very likely that the manga’s creator might be using this break to gear up for Oshi No Ko’s final arc. This wouldn’t be entirely out of the blue, given that Akasaka confirmed the series was heading towards its big climax.

While the true reason for the hiatus is still up for debate, there’s a collective hope that Akasaka is making the most of this time. The hiatus, long as it may be, is a chance for a lot of us to catch-up with the manga.

What is the Oshi No Ko mini-series about?

As we wait for Oshi No Ko to return, there’s a new treat in store – a mini-series by manga artist Mengo Yokoyari called “Oshi no Ko -interlude-.” This short series is like a little side story while we wait for the main manga to come back. It’s planned to have four chapters that will keep us entertained until the main story continues.

  • A leak has confirmed that the mini-series will turn the spotlight to Mem-Cho’s past. It will follow Mem-Cho’s decision to focus on making money instead of being an Idol, and what led to her realizing that she should come back to her childhood dream.

The first chapter of the mini-series is scheduled for release on August 10. However, the second chapter will see a release on August 24, due to a break for all of Shonen Jump in the week before.

Conclusion:

Oshi no Ko’s unexpected hiatus caught a lot of us off-guard. Thankfully, while the main manga takes a pause, manga artist Mengo Yokoyari offers a delightful interlude with “Oshi no Ko -interlude-.” This short series of four chapters, set to launch on August 10th, will the gap and dive into Mem-Cho’s past.

As for the main series, Oshi No Ko Chapter 126 will return on 14th September. Fans will be able to read it for free on Shueisha’s MANGAPlus App and the Viz Media website. But remember, different time zones mean different release times, so make sure you have your timings right!
