Some exciting news has been announced in regard to Outcast 2! THQ Nordic, the developer of Outcast 2: A New Beginning, has confirmed the title in an announcement during the developer’s 10-Year Anniversary Showcase celebration’s game announcement live stream. While it has taken quite a long for the sequel, it is sure to pique the interest of fans.

The new installation, Outcast 2, is being handled by Appeal Studios, which was acquired by THQ Nordic this year. While Appeal Studios had hinted at a sequel for Outcast, now it has been confirmed. The sci-fi prequel, Outcast, was released in 1999 and was an award-winning open-world installation from the developer Appeal. It is considered as one of the games that pioneered the open-world genre, receiving critical acclaim at the time. GameSpot had awarded it the Adventure Game of the Year award in 1999. The initial game was followed by several spin-offs and remakes.

Outcast 2: A New Beginning

Similar to the first Outcast, the sequel will take place on the Adelpha planet, where players will be in character as Cutter Slade, and 20 years in the future. Players will have to explore the planet and meet its inhabitants. In gameplay, THQ Nordic has said that movement and combat have been updated, and players will be able to use magic-like “Talan powers”, as well as a new jetpack that will enhance mobility.

The sequel will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and has been in development since late 2018. It has also been said that it is “close to Alpha.” A specific date has not been set by THQ Nordic, but since we know it is almost at the alpha stage, it can be expected in 2022. The game is expected to release on PC and the next-gen consoles such as the PS 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out the announcement trailer below.
