Overwatch 2: Concept Art Hints at Possible Battle Pass

Overwatch 2 is entering into beta testing soon, but a recent post about its concept art hints at a possible Battle Pass system. But other than that, a few other concept arts from Overwatch’s former UI designer seemed to tease at player guilds and even a “Boss Fight” mode.

Jayson Kirby, the former UI Designer for Overwatch, posted a few concept arts about the upcoming sequel on Artstation. In the concept arts he posted, fans of the team-based shooter noticed a few details that hinted at what’s coming in Overwatch 2.

First, let’s talk about the main menu. At first glance, it looks like Overwatch’s current main menu. But if you look at the submenu below SHOP, we can see a BATTLE PASS option.

The current Overwatch game does not have a Battle Pass system yet. But it’s something Jeff Kaplan, the game’s former director, hinted at when talking about the sequel.

Guild Communities

Second, Kirby posted a 25-second clip that featured what looked like an invite to a guild. What we can work out from this clip is players may be able to create guilds in the game.

If you’re unfamiliar with how guilds work in a multiplayer game, it’s just like a club. And in that club, you get to socialize with other players either from your country or those looking for solid teams to play with. Moreover, the video showed guild cards that may be new items obtained from loot boxes.

Boss Fight Mode for Overwatch 2

And finally, a 20-second video showcasing how players can log in revealed a possible game mode for Overwatch 2. Apart from the usual game modes like Deathmatch, 3v3 Competitive, and Mystery Heroes, we see one labeled as Boss Fight.

But of course, this is still concept art so there’s still a possibility that this isn’t what Overwatch 2 will look like. Just like with leaks in other games, we should take these bits of information with a grain of salt and wait until the actual game.

Besides, Overwatch 2 is entering closed beta in a few weeks, so it won’t be long until we get other information about the game.
