PlayStation Studio Commends Psychonauts 2 For Its “Originality”

Psychonauts 2 was released on the 25th of August for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One the Xbox Game Pass, and PS 4. It is also available on the PS5. The release has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, that let the director of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, commend Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox and the developer Double Fine.

Phil Spencer had initially put up a celebratory tweet for the launch of Psychonauts 2, congratulating Double Fine. Following this, Hermen Hulst replied to the tweet, congratulating Phil Spencer for the great reception of the launch; Spencer thanked Hulst.

Double Fine: Psychonauts 2

  • Double Fine has had a habit of experimenting in multiple game genres but has made very few successful sequels. Costume Quest 2 was maybe the only one that comes to mind, but they have managed to do it once again with Psychonauts 2.
  • Double Fine was also recently acquired by Microsoft, and Psychonauts 2 is the first game they have released under Microsoft. With the success of the launch, it is safe to say Microsoft will be happy with their acquiring the developer studio.
  • Psychonauts 2 begins with the immediate events at the end of the first installation, with the lead character Raz starting his first day as an intern at Psychonauts, the international spy agency.
  • The dialogues are excellent and are one of the things Double Fine excels at. The game covers a range of themes from sci-fi mystery to high school comedy, romances, and even mental health issues. The different levels of the game feature unique setups, with a lot of o surprises all along with the game.
