Hidden moves from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl can now be accessed using the Poketch or Pokémon Watch. This means that no Pokémon in a player’s squad will waste a move space. This means that players can take as many HMs or TMs as they like without worrying about running out of room in their Pokemon’s move inventory.
To continue through the tale in the revised Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, players will need special moves. These movements are known as HMs or TMs, and they differ from those in the previous Diamond and Pearl games. They can be obtained through interacting with NPCs in the game.

| Strength | On Route 209, on the top floor of the Lost Tower, you can find strength. |
| Waterfall | After defeating Volkner in Sunyshore City, players can obtain this TM from Jasmine. |
| Defog | Look for the Great Marsh Safari Zone’s gate; a green-haired NPC with Defog can be found immediately inside the gate. |
| Surf | After defeating Team Galactic in Celestic City, players must locate Cynthia’s grandma in order to complete this move. |
| Rock Smack | Talk to the hiker on Oreburgh City’s western outskirts. |
