With the New Year almost here, there are many new things to look forward to in Pokemon Go. Niantic has revealed a number of events that will be happening in January 2022.

Research Breakthrough Rewards

Starting from the 1st of January at 1 PM PST till the 1st of February in 2022 1 PM PST, players will encounter:

  • Onix
  • Steelix Mega Energy

There is also a chance that players will encounter a Shiny Pokemon.

Pokemon Raids

All raid timings will start and end at 10 AM local time on the dates provided. In each raid, players will also stand a chance to encounter a Shiny Pokemon.

5-star Raids:
  • 1st to 7th January: Kyurem
  • 7th to 15th January: Heatran
  • 15th to 24th January: Genesect (Shock Drive)- will also know Techno Blast
  • 24th January to 1st February: Regice
Mega Raids:
  • From January 1-7: Mega Abomasnow
  • From January 7- February 1: Mega Aerodactyl
Raid Hours:

Raid Hours will take place from 6-7 PM local time every Wednesday in January.

  • 5th January: Kyurem
  • 12th January: Heatran
  • 19th January:Genesect (Shock Drive)
  • 26th January: Regice

Spotlight Hours:

Spotlight Hours will occur from 6-7 PM every Tuesday local time.

  • 4th January: Solosis- 2x Transfer Candy
  • 11th January: Diglett- 2x Catch Stardust
  • 18th January: Plusle- 2x Catch Candy
  • 25th January: Minun- 2x Transfer Candy

PokeCoion Bundles:

Each Monday, players can access a one-time-purchase bundle. This will include a Remote Raid Pass, while other items will be available for 1 PokeCoin in the shop.

Community Day:

January Community Day will take place on the 16th of January from 11 AM to 5 PM at local time. Spheal, the Clap Pokemon will be featured during the event. It will appear frequently in the wild. Moreover, If Spheal is evolved into Sealeo during or within two hours after the event, players will also get a Walrein that will know Charged Attach Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow.

Moreover, there are also other events that will be arriving in the near future:

  • New Year Event
  • Mountains of Power
  • Electric- and Steel-themed event inspired by the Kanto Power Plant
