Pokemon Go: Johto Event Features and Events, Is It Worth It?

We’re now near the Season of Heritage, and Pokemon GO is capping it off with a Johto event. They will conduct a live and virtual event for all players to enjoy. Purchasing a ticket will unlock special quests and spawns. All players will also see an increased Johto Pokemon spawn rate with higher chances of their shiny versions.

The event runs from February 26, 9 am to 9 pm local time. Here are the other details you need to know:

Virtual Event

All players will have a chance to enjoy the Johto Tour, but those willing to pay for the $12 virtual ticket will get more content. After buying the ticket, players will choose Gold or Silver (in line with the games). Each version will have different sets of exclusive Pokemon spawning:

  • Silver: Delibird, Ledyba, Phanpy, Skarmory
  • Gold: Gligar, Mantine, Spinarak, Teddiursa

Players will also get their choice of the three Johto starter Pokémon: Cyndaquil, Totodile, or Chikorita. There will also be research tasks that reward Johto Pokemon.

Regardless of what version you choose, all other Johto Pokemon will spawn during the event. Eggs will also require only a quarter distance to hatch. You’ll also get an in-game medal.

One thing to be excited about at the event is the Special Research story. Niantic revealed that you’ll catch both a Shiny Gyarados and the mythical Celebi as you progress it.

Free Features

Those who don’t get the free features will still get Johto spawns. There will also be timed tasks from Pokestops. They will also churn out more 2KM eggs as baby Pokemon from the Johto region will hatch from them.

Live Event

There will be three locations for the Pokemon Go Tour: Johto live event. The live event will happen on February 27, so players can still enjoy the virtual event the day before. The locations will be:

  1. Parque Fundidora at Monterrey, Mexico
  2. The Taiwan Lantern Festival at Kaohsiung, Taiwan
  3. Yas Bay at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The ticket for the live event costs $25, and you can purchase it in advance at the Pokemon Go Tour website. As seen with previous events, you’ll see themed habitats spread throughout the area that you can visit. There will also be exclusive Special Research tasks for attendees.

Players will also receive a special in-game medal. The zone for the event will have double candy for hatching eggs and will have featured Pokemon spawning at an increased rate.
