Poppy Playtime - Chapter 2

Non-fungible tokens for the game were released last December, much to the disappointment of players

Including NFTs in video games is not a new concept since most games are doing it now. However, the case was different for Poppy Playtime which angered the game’s community. This is because buying Poppy Playtime NFTs meant you can get exclusive access to franchise lore. But most players saw this as the game using a paywall to withhold the lore behind the characters.

When the frustration of players blew up, MOB Games decided the best course of action was to donate proceeds to charity. Although that somehow calmed furious players, it still impacted the game’s image to the gaming community.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is out now

The anticipated Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime dropped this week along with the statement from Belanger. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 picks up where the game left off in the first game. Although the player manages to escape from Huggy Wuggy, players find themselves stuck in the Playtime Co. factory. Moreover, Chapter 2 introduces a new villain to the survival horror game: Mommy Long Legs.

MOB Games also promised that the new chapter is longer than Chapter 1, meaning it offers loads of brand new content to players. And aside from a new enemy, players can use new gadgets that will help them get away from all the threats lurking at every corner of the factory.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is now available on Steam. To play it, you need to purchase the base game first.

Most games are including NFTs? By what definition of “most?”
Also “NFTs in video games is not a new concept?” The first major publisher to issue an NFT was Ubisoft and they did it less than six months ago. It is a very new concept.

Hey, Daniel! Thanks for your comment. What’s meant with most games including NFTs are the launch of ‘free-to-play’ games like MIR4 and Thetan Arena.

As for NFTs not being a new concept to gaming, the rise of these crypto games are what was implied in the article. Of course when talking about NFTs in video games on a larger scale, there are publishers like Square Enix believing that the future of gaming includes NFTs.

But yes, it is a very new concept when talking about it in general. Apologies and thank you!
