Reacher is back! The hit action series featuring the titular character inspired by the Lee Child novels of the same name will be returning to action this December. Reacher season 2 is on its way for another thrilling and enthralling adventure with an incredible action sequence. But, with new allies also comes with a new formidable villain. Who is the Hulk-esque Jack Reacher going up against in season 2?
Bad Luck and Trouble: Reacher season 2’s main villains are going to be …
It’s been known that season 2 of Reacher will be based on the 11th book of the series called Bad Luck and Trouble. Lee Child, who wrote the book of the same name, is also overseeing the production of the live-action ada0ptation by Prime Video.
When members of his former secret U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being tortured and murdered one by one, Jack Reacher (Allan Ritchson) and Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) suspect that something is definitely wrong. Shortly after the incidents, the other members of Reacher’a old unit went missing, too.
The show’s second season picks up where Reacher left off. After his heroics in Margrave, the humongous ex-military is back on the road again. After finding out about the mystery surrounding his comrades’ deaths, Reacher forms a group with Neagley as well as other former accomplices like Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), and David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos). Together, this team tries to uncover the truth behind all of the murders, taking down their foes one by one.
In the book, Reacher and co., while investigating, run into an underground company called “New Age”. This criminal group creates cutting-edge weaponry and then sells them in the black market for terrorists. Moreover, Reacher discovers that New Age is actually run by two beat cops namely Alan Lamaison and Curtis Mauney.
Lamaison and Mauney were former partners, but the former has been out of police work while the latter is still in the force. Season 1 showed Reacher teaming up with cops (Roscoe and Finlay) but in the sequel, it’s going to be the other way around.
Reacher will have to go through corrupt cops and it’s not something he hasn’t done before. However, Prime Video and Lee Child haven’t announced which actors are going to play the big bad of Reacher season 2 or if these characters will actually be in the show. Meanwhile, the cast for season 2 includes Josh Blacker, who portrays Lieutenant Colonel Hortense Fields, Luke Bilyk as Calvin Franz, Dean McKenzie plays Stan Lowery, Edsson Morales as Manuel Orozco, Andres Collantes as Jorge Sanchez, and Shannon Kook-Chun as Tony Swan.
Other confirmed cast members for the upcoming season are Ferdinand Kingsley (who will play a Syrian Terrorist), Ty Olson (playing a hitman), Al Sapienza (Marsh), Robert Patrick (as Shane Langston), and Domenick Lombardozzi (as Ghost). Marsh, Shane Langston, and Ghost are new characters and aren’t derived from the source material so this means there are going to be a lot of changes in the show. But, it’s going to be an even more exciting ride as we finally see Child’s depiction of police corruption.
Reacher season 2 will be released on December 15, 2023. The show will run for 8 episodes until January 2024, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
