Heads up, gamers! We’re getting a new RPG called Project Vitriol soon from ex Witcher 3 devs. And from the information we have so far about the upcoming game, it sounds like Project Vitriol is a title we’ll be looking forward to once it drops.

Project Vitriol is Fool’s Theory’s biggest project yet

Fool’s Theory are comprised of ex Witcher 3 devs. Moreover, they’ve previously released Seven: The Days Long Gone. Now, they recently announced that they are working on a new game with 11 bit studios, the developers of the hit surival game Frostpunk.

For those who haven’t played Frostpunk yet, it’s a city-building game where you have the responsibility of taking care of the last city on Earth. As for Seven: The Days Long Gone, it is an open-world RPG. With that being said, it’s no wonder Project Vitriol sounds like it will have similar elements to Seven and Witcher 3.

Fool’s Theory revealed that Project Vitriol has a budget of over $3.8 million USD. With a budget that big, we’re definitely looking forward to what the game has to offer once it releases. Furthermore, we can expect full voice acting and motion capture sessions which will add more to the gaming experience of Project Vitriol.

The game is a ‘morally ambiguous’ roleplaying game

Jakub Rokosz is the CEO and Project Lead for Fool’s Theory. According to Rokosz, the upcoming game is a “morally ambiguous narrative-driven RPG”. No surprise there since The Witcher 3 was also a morally ambiguous and narrative-driven roleplaying game.

Moreover, Rokosz revealed that the game is going to be pretty dark. In a statement following the announcement of Vitriol, he refers to the game as “esoteric”.

“The game is about the esoteric side of reality, that dark part of the world that most of us don’t see and are not aware of its existence, but the darkness – it is there, lurking behind every corner. It watches us closely from the shadows, and whether we know it or not – takes its toll, making sure we’re going to have a debt to pay,” Rokosz further elaborated.
