Sony has just dropped the bomb, launching a page where you can register to obtain a PS5 in the US this holiday season! Yes, you heard that right! This process consists of a direct registration system which will give you a chance to spend your holidays with a brand-new console.
The opportunity does come with a catch. There are only a limited number of PS5 consoles available, but it does not seem as though it will be a queueing system that is usually used to distribute consoles. The direct registration system does not implement a first-come, first-served system. However, we recommend that you register sooner than later.

The official page states that “This coming Holiday season, we will have a limited amount of PS5 Consoles available for customers in the US to purchase directly from PlayStation. If you fancy receiving an invitation, register below. If selected, we will contact you via email with instructions and details.”

The selection of who will receive invitations is based on “previous interests and PlayStation activities.” People who register will receive invitations if selected from November. Selected people will receive a mail with the date, time, and instructions to purchase the consoles. In addition, the expiry date of the invite will also be mentioned.
People who receive the invitation will need to take careful note that each invitation is valid only for a limited time. The quantities of receivables are also limited per PSN ID for each transaction. One PSN ID can only get you the following things. The following items will be available in a single transaction:
- 1 PS5 console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers (Bundles, Cosmic Red or Midnight Black)
- 3 DualSense wireless controllers (White)
- 1 PS5 Media Remote
- 1 PULSE 3D wireless headset
Players can purchase any of these items within the quantity specified by Sony. Players outside the US can also register, provided that they use a US-based address. In any other case, the registration will be canceled.
