UPDATE: Queen Elizabeth II, 96, has passed away, as reported by Buckingham Palace.

The unprecedented statement made by the physicians this afternoon expressing their “concern” suggests that the 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II’s health has worsened in recent hours, as evidenced by all the measures put in place.

To be by their mother’s side while she is “under medical supervision,” Queen Elizabeth II’s immediate family members rushed to the Scottish castle of Balmoral. Seven members of her family arrived at Aberdeen airport.

The health of Elizabeth II has set the United Kingdom on alert, with politicians and other prominent figures expressing fear of the worst in statements made in recent hours.

United States President Joe Biden has told his British counterpart, Prime Minister Liz Truss, that the 96-year-old monarch is in his thoughts. Biden informed Truss that he and First Lady Jill Biden “are thinking a lot” about the Queen and the British people.

  • Following their arrival at an air base in Aberdeen, Scotland, Prince William, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, and his uncles Andrew and Edward, sons of the Queen of England, made their way to Balmoral.
  • Local media have also reported that Prince Harry, who normally dwells with Meghan and their two children in the United States, is also on his way.
  • The monarch’s successor, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, were already in the Scottish castle on April 6 to commemorate her mother’s 70th anniversary as queen. Also present was Princess Anne, the monarch’s only daughter.

Meghan and Kate will not join.
  • The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife, will not be present at Balmoral. Members of the British Royal Family gathered at Balmoral Castle in the face of Queen Elizabeth II’s deteriorating health.
  • A prince’s spokesperson acknowledged her absence, which may be related to the public backlash following the actress’s allegations against the royal family. However, Prince William’s wife Kate will also not be in attendance.
  • Reports from Britain say that Kate will remain in Windsor. The mother of three will tend to her kids on Thursday, the first day of class. Meghan is staying in London but will not be attending an awards event previously planned.
