Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Ship With Two Blu-ray Discs For The PS4

1

I’ve been covering a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 lately but, again, the game does deserve the attention. As revealed recently, Red Dead Redemption 2 will take a great amount of your console’s storage. A new leaked image confirms Red Dead Redemption 2’s PS4 physical copy will ship with two Bluray discs instead of one.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will take 89.20GB to install on the PS4 and 88.52GB on the Xbox One. Dual-layer Blu-ray discs, the standard for all PS4 games supports only up to 50GB. As Red Dead Redemption 2 requires more than that, the game will ship with two dual-layered Blu-ray discs.

The fact that Rockstar Games is shipping the game with two discs is actually a good thing for physical edition buyers. It’s remarkable that they’re not going with the ‘install from the disc and download the rest’ strategy. That’d be extremely disappointing.

Major reasons for players to order the physical versions are – because they prefer to collect boxes, or because their internet doesn’t support downloading such huge files. For me, the latter is the case. My town’s broadband speed is extremely slow and it’d take me almost days to finish downloading the entire game. And of course, there are no unlimited data plans.

The image also contains correct SKU coding and new screenshots, making it a more appropriate cover the game. However, we can’t say for sure until Rockstar makes an official statement.

Despite the fact that the game will ship with two discs, we should still prepare ourselves for a huge Day 1 patch.

If you remember, 2K Games shipped their XCOM 2 Collection for PS4 with two discs – Data Disc and Play Disc. For those who don’t know, 2K Games is a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, the same company that parents Rockstar Games.
