Seven individuals were killed in a huge explosion that tore through a chocolate factory in West Reading, Pennsylvania, on Friday, March 24, 2023. The cause of the explosion is still being investigated by the police.
A single person was discovered alive in the wreckage overnight on Friday and sent to a hospital. At a press conference on Monday afternoon, Chief Wayne Holben of the West Reading Borough Police Department announced that the official search and rescue operation had come to an end and that cleanup work would now begin.

- Officials reported 10 additional persons were hurt in the explosion and transported to Reading Hospital during a conference on Monday.
- 10 individuals received emergency room care.
- 2 were admitted to the hospital.
