GTA fans, I’m sorry, but I don’t think you will get what you have been waiting for in the near future. Instead of Grand Theft Auto 6, there’s a rumor recently that Rockstar will do a remake of Red Dead Redemption soon. Although it’s bitter news for fans of the long-awaited GTA 6, getting a remastered version of RDR is not bad.
Red Dead Redemption Remake Rumor
These past few days, social media has surprised RDR fans with the leaked information about the possible remake of Red Dead Redemption. The rumor started to spread after the first franchise of the cowboy game got a brand new rating in South Korea. Thanks to Gematsu, they were able to quickly spot the changes in the rating for RDR.
- Even before the sequel hit the market, fans have been demanding a Red Dead Redemption remake for years.
- However, this recent development may be closer than we initially thought.
- Ratings for the PS3 version of the original Red Dead Redemption and an unexpectedly high rating could fuel rumors that a new Red Dead Redemption remake is on the way.
Brand New Rating in GRAC
There isn’t much information about Red Dead Redemption getting a remake. However, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has recently revised the game’s rating. This gesture can be a hint that there’s a new RDR coming.
“The new rating carries the classification number “CC-NV-230615-001.” In Korean game ratings, “NV” refers to console games, while “NP” refers to PC games.”– Gematsu.com
These rumors have not yet been confirmed, but since South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has previously done this with a few other games that turned out to be true, even though they have not been officially confirmed, they do raise the possibility that we will be getting a Red Dead Redemption Remake.
Twitter account @videotechx has also recently uploaded a tweet regarding this rumor. He stated in the tweet, “The new rating for Red Dead Redemption includes a new expression for ‘body damage,’ now what’s even more weird is the expression ‘body damage’ is only used in ratings for RDR2 and Doom titles.”

This exciting rumor is also supported by a well-known Twitter user in the Xbox community, @IdleSloth84_. In his tweet, he claimed that he checked the Korean website for GRAC, and approved that Red Dead Redemption got a new rating, which leads him to believe the game will get a remake in the near future.

Rockstar suddenly removed Red Dead Redemption from PS Now
While this rumor is just a speculation based on a gesture made by the GRAC, Rockstar might have given away a hint in the past. Some fans of RDR might remember when in late 2022, Rockstar suddenly removed Red Dead Redemption from PlayStation Now. They removed RDR after six years after its debut on PlayStation 3.
- While that move by Rockstar seems weird at the time, now it does make more sense.
- Deleting RDR from PS Now might be a sign that they are doing a remake for the game.
- This is the same action we can see before Rockstar released the Definitive Editions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
Moreover, before Rockstar officially announced the release of the Definitive Edition of the GTA older franchise, the three games also got a new rating from the GRAC website. Coincidence? I think not.
