However, the truth is, even though the Rock will play Maui, Zendaya won’t be playing Moana, which is terrible for the viewers. This news is false, and neither Disney nor Zendaya have backed it up.

The fake poster features Zendaya dressed as Moana with the caption. It has been making the rounds on Facebook and other social media sites, confusing and exciting the fans. Nonetheless, it seems to have turned into a fan’s wildest fantasy.

Zendaya is not a part of the live-action Moana

Disney and Dwayne Johnson announced the live-action version of Moana following the success of its 2016 animation feature, and fans couldn’t be happier. Only a few days have passed since this news.

Although The Rock confirmed his role as Maui, fans of the film are also eager to see the Spider-Man actress in action. However, this news of Zendaya taking on the role of Moana is fake.

The post, that has been circulating in social media recently, shows Zendaya dressed as Moana, with the caption “Zendaya as Moana”. Other details or even the Disney logo are missing from the poster, making it impossible to believe it is real.

The poster, however, turned out to be fake and photoshopped, breaking the heart of her fans.

As Dwayne said to the Hollywood Reporter once, “This story is my culture and this story is emblematic of our people’s grace and warrior strength. I wear this culture proudly on my skin and in my soul, and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reunite with Maui, inspired by the mana and spirit of my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, is one that runs very deep for me.”

During the Disney shareholders meeting, Johnson made the project announcement. The Rock will reprise his role as Maui, the deity of the wind and water, in the live-action Moana movie.

Auli’i Cravalho, who provided the original voice for the 2016 animated film, Moana, will serve as the remake’s executive producer. Disney hasn’t yet revealed who will play Moana. Fans are eagerly awaiting the introduction of the complete cast, though.

Moana drew inspiration from Polynesian myths. It is the story of a young lady who defied her father. Her father was the chief of an island that was suffering with an imminent ecological disaster.

She then set out on a mission to reunite a mystical relic with its owner, a goddess named Te Fiti. Along the journey, she frees Maui from his island jail, is kidnapped by a gigantic crab, and gathers the courage to develop into the chief her father had envisioned for her.
