Earlier in the year, there were rumors that the new Call of Duty would be called Call of Duty: Vanguard, and that it would be based on World War 2. It had been said that the Call of Duty: Vanguard will be some kind of sequel to 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII. Though the 2017 installation had players fighting Nazi Germans, the new Vanguard is apparently based in locations like Japan. However, Call of Duty: World at War had also featured both these locations.

UPDATE: All initial Vanguard leaks on Twitter have been copyrighted by Activision.

WWII Weapons

New images on the internet found by data miners, who data-mined the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update, have been confirming these rumors. The logo on one of the images says Call of Duty: Vanguard. Four characters in the background sporting WW2 weapons and equipment, in a place that may be the Pacific front. Following this leak, Activision has issued DMCA takedown notices to remove the images. However, it may just be too late already.

The different leaked images have exposed a standard edition, a cross-gen bundle, and an ultimate edition. Other images have revealed the names Wade, Polina, and Lucas for three characters, and there has also been mention of an open access beta version. Leaks also suggest that there will be a co-op campaign. If the images are true, Vanguard will be the second installation in the Call of Duty Series to feature a four-player campaign.

The Call of Duty: Vanguard announcement will apparently be on August 19, while the release might be in November. Players expect the game to be available for both last-gen and current consoles. There has been no word from Activision regarding the new installation in the series. Fans are expecting an announcement soon.
