Sony Insider Confirms New Sly Cooper Game

Sony appears to be working on resurrecting several of its long-forgotten franchises. Sources claim that Twisted Metal could be released as a free-to-play title by 2023. Additionally, a Wipeout game for PS5 could be suitable for the new VR headset. A potential new Sly Cooper game, the 3D platformer saga designed by Sucker Punch in 2002, has also been mentioned; a development that an insider allegedly confirms.

Twitter user Shpeshal Nick, a well-known industry insider and co-founder of Xbox Era, has posted a tweet on his personal account confirming the arrival of a new Sly Cooper game.

  • Nick had previously expressed his thoughts on Sly Cooper’s potential come back, most recently in August, when he validated details from different sources. 
  • The news is that Sony source has acknowledged that new game is in the works, though no further details have been released about the project.
  • Nick said that he doesn’t know if it’ll be remake of the originals, reboot of the franchise, or an entirely new installment, for example. 
“For whatever it’s worth to anyone, I’ve heard something similar. I didn’t hear Sucker Punch were doing it, I just heard “someone” was making Sly 5. I guess Sucker Punch would make the most sense. But I keep being told not them.”

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, the most recent game in the Sly Cooper installment, is available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013. Sanzaru Games, the game’s creators, back in 2019 that they would be glad to work on a sequel. However, they are now part of Oculus Studios. On the other hand, we learn that Sucker Punch, the game’s original makers, are looking to hire for an open world project and another “spectacular multiplayer” game.
