World of Warcraft Coming To Consoles This December?

World of Warcraft Coming To Consoles This December

World of Warcraft is one such epic game that was released on and has always been on PC. It was released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment and was an instant success. The game received multiple games of the year awards and the best PC game awards from multiple media outlets. It has a solid rating everywhere and was loved by fans and critics alike. But even after 17 years of its release, it has no console version. That was until now.

Coming to Xbox and Other Consoles?

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

Rumor has it that not only World of Warcraft will be making its debut on consoles, but also it’s about to happen real soon. In a Reddit post, a screenshot of the Xbox website’s source code was leaked which listed World of Warcraft: Complete Edition. It was listed in the “Upcoming” category and the date allotted was December 9. As you can guess the post was quickly deleted but it was later shared to online game forum ResetEra.

As you may be aware December 9 is also the date of The Game Awards 2021, which always brings a lot of game reveals and announcements. So it is very much possible that one of these reveals will be WoW’s console debut with Xbox or who knows maybe even PlayStation. The point is that if this leak is to be believed, we will be able to enjoy WOW on consoles pretty soon.

A Good Idea?

While some of you might be jumping on your bed upon hearing this, many others are a bit skeptical. In fact, it is very much possible that this reveal would be greeted with a solid backlash, instead of cheers. The main reason behind this is that it is a PC game and more than that a very old PC game. Now, you might ask why is old relevant? Well, here’s why.

Being an old game, WOW has numerous mods which allow players to customize the game and enjoy it further. These mods will not be able to translate to consoles and hence, most players might not play it on consoles. Secondly, the game has a huge legacy. Its controls and commands would also be quite hard to translate to consoles. And more than that it would be hard for players to adjust to console commands of a beloved game.

Anyways, these are the discussions for a later time because as of now, it is just a leak that can or cannot be true. Guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens next. One thing which is true is that The Game Awards are all set to take place on 9th December, and you must join us there to know about tons of new reveals.
