Death has been the most heartbreaking to write down, and another young soul left this world.  Australian athlete Simon Dunn dies at 35, this may be sudden news to all, but here’s the cause of death. Simon Dunn’s cause of death

Tragically, on Saturday, January 21, the New South Wales Police were phoned and found Simon Dunn’s body in his home. Dunn lived in Surry Hills, Sydney. The athlete’s agent and the police confirmed his death.

  • The cause of death has not been released, but police said that “it is not being treated as suspicious”. Few reports have been written about Dunn’s cause of death could’ve been the rough year he went through which led to ending his life.
  • No confirmation of suicide as the cause of death, but we’ll have to wait for that. As of now, let’s give our prayers to the late Simon Dunn.

  • What is more shocking, two days before his death, Simon Dunn posted on his Instagram. He shared a shirtless, black-and-white photo of himself, with the caption “I think it’s time for another photoshoot?! #tbt

His sporting career

If you’re not caught up with sporting news, Simon Dunn is a gay rugby and bobsleigh athlete. The athlete played rugby with all-gay teams in Sydney and soon became an LGBTQ+ representation in sports.

  • After playing rugby, Simon Dunn shifted to bobsledding. He moved to Canada to bobsled, and reach his dream — to qualify for the Olympics. However, he, unfortunately, tore his biceps in 2021. This incident halts his dream to play in the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.
  • He became the first openly gay man to represent a country in the said sport. Moreover, after the bicep injury, Dunn shared his personal battle on Instagram before.

  • He said that he entered some “pretty low places”, called himself a “failure”, and didn’t ask a doctor for help when he knew that he needed that. “The support that has carried me the past 12 months is something I’ll forever be grateful for. Without it, there’s no words for where I could be right now. We all need support, there’s no shame in asking for it! he finished his post.

In 2022, Dunn and his partner for five years, Felix Maisey-Curtis, decided to go separate ways after a “rough year of personal loss”.

  • Back in 2018, the ex-couple took the world by storm when Dunn posted a photographed photo of them kissing on the rugby court. The athlete-advocate shared this after a controversy that rugby player Israel Folau said in a deleted Instagram comment that gay people would end up in “hell” unless they “repent their sins”.
  • Speaking of this, Simon Dunn is a known advocate of the LGBTQ+ community’s inclusion in sports. The prejudice against queer and trans in the world of sports has remained, and Dunn has always been an inspiration and visibility to the whole community.
