However, The Headless Horseman is more Nordic than gothic. There are a few ways to ensure a terrifying nocturnal meeting with this ghost. But because it’s such an uncommon spawn, it’s better to be patient or simply visit him during the day.
Even a decade after its initial release, most players have never seen the Headless Horseman. The most enigmatic phantom in Skyrim is a nod to the classic Halloween tale Sleepy Hollow, in which a headless horseman terrorizes a New England village.
- The Headless Horseman is a mysterious entity in Skyrim, with scant information about his origins. Some fans believe the Headless Horseman is simply a roaming spirit, while others believe he is Ragnar the Red himself, a character who is frequently mentioned in songs around Skyrim and whose head was allegedly cut off by a shieldmaiden.
- Players can notice that the Headless Horseman is wearing Steel Plate Armor, which cosmetically eliminates his head, generating more concerns about his origins and whether he is a real ghost or not, by executing terminal commands.
Where To Find
- The Headless Horseman can be confronted at any time of day or night, with distinct approaches for each. During the day, the Headless Horseman is in Hamvir’s Rest, a Nordic tomb on Whiterun’s northern border.
- There’s a chance that if a player fast travels to this place, he’ll arrive standing just outside the above-ground entrance. The Headless Horseman can technically spawn on any road in Skyrim at night.
- If you want to have the best chance of seeing this ghost at night, don’t go looking until after 10 p.m. or later than 6 a.m. Keep to the main routes and increase your actor’s view distance to its maximum setting.
- If the Headless Horseman spawns, you will be able to see him from a greater distance than usual. When looking for the Headless Horseman, it’s a good idea to ride a mount so you can follow him. You will hear his numerous unique voice lines as the sun rises.
