Toei Animation has been constantly spoiling fans with surprises now and then. After the One Piece live-action announcement on Netflix, the One Piece Film: Red film, and now another one for anime fans! For the Slam Dunk fans out there, Slam Dunk Movie revealed its official release date, and you may ask us for some information, right? The First Slam Dunk

The First Slam Dunk movie sets to be written and directed by the original creator of the anime series, Takehiko Inoue. Toei Animation, on the other hand, takes on the producing role for the upcoming film. In case you missed it, the announcement of the film happened way back in January of last year, 2021.

  • You may have it as shocking news why they planned to release a film out of the series. Well, with the success of the films they have released like the Demon Slayer, and One Piece, it’s a no-brainer for them to bring the Slam Dunk series into the big screen as well.

Schedule and how to watch it

Of course, we may expect The First Slam Dunk to hit the big screen. As much as we are excited as everyone, you may want to read the possible schedule below. But pretty sure, we’ll see you in the theaters, anime fans!

  • As of this writing, the schedule for its release has been the only official announcement lately. The Japanese fans may enjoy the movie as it comes in the fall of 2022, specifically on December 3rd. If you haven’t been updated, the ticket selling in Japan has been going since September 16th. Early purchasers may get home official merchandise of their favorite Slam Dunk characters!

  • As for the worldwide release, we may still want to wait for an announcement. Although, we may hope that it may come to the theaters internationally a week or two after the Japan release.

Film Synopsis

According to IMDB, The First Slam Dunk adaptation may have the same storyline just like the series. With the creator as its director and writer still, let’s see how they’ll show Slam Dunk in theater houses. The genre would fall under Animation, Comedy, and Drama, as well.

  • “Hanamichi Sakuragi is a delinquent with a long history of getting dumped by girls. After enrolling in Shohoku High School, Hanamichi becomes interested in a girl named Haruko who loves the game of basketball.”

We all know whether you’re an avid fan or not, that Slam Dunk became one of the biggest anime hits all around the globe. You may not know the characters or haven’t watched the series, but you know about the Slam Dunk anime, right? It became THAT huge.

  • The manga began in 1990 to 1996 and has around 31 tankobon volumes. While Toei Animation managed to adapt the manga into an animation series during the years of 1993 to 1996.
