Talented Star Wars artist Jake Bartok recently provided a unique glimpse into their past through an enticing illustration that depicts these intriguing characters as younger versions of themselves. Interestingly, the artwork also suggests that Shin has always had her signature lightsaber color from the start.

But what was Baylan Skoll training Shin Hati for? It has already been established in Ahsoka that Baylan trained his new Apprentice for something else. Since he has turned his back on the Jedi Order and doesn’t appear to be working for the Dark Side, it appears that Shin was trained to be somewhere in between. This is suggested in her Apprentice braid, just like a young Jedi, and the odd-colored lightsaber.
What Did Baylan Skoll Do Before The Events in Ahsoka?
Before delving into the realm of mercenaries, Baylan Skoll was a part of the Jedi Order. However, many details of his life before the Jedi Purge remain shrouded in mystery. Grand Admiral Thrawn‘s reference to Baylan as a general during the Clone Wars provides only a glimpse into his past, leaving much to be discovered. The Jedi Order encompassed a wide array of roles, and understanding Baylan’s specific background and contributions is essential.
Baylan’s proficiency as a mercenary suggests that he may have undertaken unique assignments for the Jedi Council, which could have led to interactions with the likes of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Such assignments might have allowed him to witness the iconic character’s transformation into Darth Vader and engage in a lightsaber duel that ended with Baylan’s narrow escape.

There is a possibility that the character will be recast for Season 2 so that Baylan’s story can get the conclusion it deserves. It would also allow viewers to learn the truth about the enigmatic character and the role he would play in the future of the Star Wars universe.
Ahsoka has not yet been renewed for a second season. Nevertheless, Star Wars fans are looking forward to an announcement soon.
