This limited-time event is Steam’s first genre-specific sale this year. Starting on January 23, 2023, games that belong to the Base Building category are getting their prices slashed. Unlike previous sales, the Base Builder Fest will only run for a week. This means you have until January 30, 2023, before some of the top base-building games return to their original prices.
- According to Steam, the Base Builder Fest will feature “discounts and demons on current and upcoming games.” They further entice players by saying the limited-time event focuses on “the spirit of building habitable spaces, whether a single or collection of buildings.”
- For those unfamiliar with the Base Building category of video games, players usually have the freedom to do whatever they want in these games. Although it is not explicitly stated, base builders require players to have great survival instincts and strategies.
- In base builder games, you start from scratch and use a certain number of resources to build either an entire city or even a zoo. This is the part where knowing how to survive is important. You’ll have to make adjustments and sacrifices in order to make your base thrive and run smoothly.
- Games in this category also include different gimmicks that will challenge how you handle your base. From natural calamities to illnesses, you’ll need to overcome all types of challenges in base-building games.
