After a huge box office success, Warner Bros.’ “The Batman” will be having a sequel. Warner Bros. confirmed in their CinemaCon presentation last Tuesday that a sequel for “The World’s Greatest Detective” is already being planned. Additionally, Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Zoe Kravits (Cat Woman) will be returning to the spotlight.
The movie’s director, Matt Reeves, also confirmed that he will still be directing and co-writing the upcoming sequel.
The Batman was released back in March and gathered a $134 Million opening night (domestically), making it the biggest opening weekend this year. To this day, the latest reboot of the masked vigilante has already made north of $700 million, coming in second to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight ($1.1 Billion). The film also surprisingly became the 2nd most-watched HBO Max release with 4.1 million views (just 200,000 views short of Mortal Kombat 2021).
Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of the titular character took a different path than the previous adaptations. What made it special is the dark, gritty, slightly depressing, and slow-burn approach to Gotham and everything about it. With a teased deleted scene of a confrontation between Batman and the Joker (played by Barry Keoghan), we will be expecting a lot more to come in the upcoming sequel.
On a side note, there are also a lot of movies from Warner Bros. to watch out for this year. Titles like:
- DC League of Super Pets (July 29, 2022)
- Creed III (Nov. 23, 2022)
- Shazam! Fury of the Gods (Dec. 16, 2022)
