The Last of Us Trailer Breakdown; What you missed in the teaser

HBO has finally given us a first official look at The Last of Us TV show releasing sometime next year. Although we only got a teaser for what’s to come in The Last of Us TV show, it’s looking promising.

Despite all the leaks and rumors surrounding the TV show adaptation of the zombie game, it’s refreshing to get a new teaser about the upcoming TV show. Here’s what you may have missed in the teaser released by HBO yesterday.

HBO Max gave us a glimpse of The Last of Us TV show premiering next year

HBO Max released a teaser showcasing their upcoming shows on the day House of the Dragon premiered on the streaming platform. The showcase trailer featured teasers from different shows like The Idol, Pennyworth, Succession, and most especially, The Last of Us.

You can check out the entire showcase trailer here. But check out below for the teaser of The Last of Us TV adaptation from HBO Max:

  • Although it wasn’t much, it’s enough to keep us excited for the TV adaptation of one of the biggest zombie games of the decade.
  • From what the teaser trailer gives us, we only saw Joel (Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsay), and Bill (Nick Offerman).

  • The man who served as the creative director in both TLOU games also took to Twitter once the teaser dropped. According to Neil Druckmann, “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Of course, we can’t say yet how good The Last of Us TV show is going to be. But honestly, we’re pretty hyped for it and it’ll be a breath of fresh air to see a game be properly adapted into a TV show.

The Last of Us TV adaptation seems to aim for a legitimate adaptation of the video game

The teaser just goes to show us that HBO Max is going to play it safe by delivering an authentic adaptation of the game. It’s like we’re playing the game again when we first saw the teaser, and we can’t say whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Sometimes, adaptations steer too far from their source material. So it’s refreshing to see that HBO Max is being faithful to The Last of Us by making the TV adaptation look like the game. However, it’d be interesting to see what changes they’ll introduce in the show to make it more unique.
