About The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum brings you to Middle-earth through Gollum’s point of view. The game is developed by Daedalic Entertainment which let you experience the world of The Lord of the Rings.
Moreover, entitled Gollum, meant he is your main character throughout the adventure. The character’s skills are your key to roaming around different locations such as Barad-dur Tower, Cirith Ungol, and Mirkwood.
Who is Gollum without his other personality? The action-adventure game also uses Gollum’s dual personality when you’re in the midst of decision-making all throughout your gameplay.
Gollum Release Date and Platforms
After releasing bits of information since 2019, we have a release date, players! The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is to be released on September 1, 2022. The 2021 supposed date of release was delayed due to development issues however not further explained why.
Additionally, Gollum is set to be played on PC. Not only that, but it is made available too for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and possibly in Switch after its launch. The Nintendo Switch release has no specific date yet, but we’ll keep you updated here in Spiel Times!
Gollum Gameplay
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum switches things up with the other LOTR games as it focuses not on serious combats, but on climbing parkour. Gollum will defeat enemies still (sneakily!).
Moreover, lead game designer Martin Wilkes mentions “However, this will not be easy and always come[s] with big risks. We want players to carefully weigh these encounters. After all, Gollum’s strengths lie in cunning, not combat“.
There wasn’t any specific type of gameplay in the trailers yet you can see Gollum swinging around the different locations in the game. These locations were made in detail as the environments in the maps look enticing to explore.
However, you may see Gollum as a mind-bending game, a critical thinking game, maybe with a hint of stealth and puzzles, and a narration-action game. Additionally, the game can be played solo, yet the developers may have other plans. We are yet to wait for what they had in mind! May it be a co-op or solo, we would enjoy playing this game, that’s for sure!
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Trailers
The trailers have been released since about last year. You can see the cinematic approach of the game and we’ll do a quick run-through with the trailers.
Around 2021, a trailer made its way to the fans to introduce Gollum, his split personality, along with a sneak peek of the world you can explore. They also provided an interview with Daedalic’s Harald Riegler about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
Furthermore, a sneak peek trailer was also posted running less than a minute where you can see how Gollum goes on the adventure of his life in this game. Following this is a teaser trailer that may want to keep your questions about the game going. Do you know? Let’s just play the game when launched to find the answers!
The latest trailer they released was on July 7, 2022. You can hear Gollum talking and see him climbing on walls, swimming underwater, and meeting characters along the way!
