Chris Ledesma has passed away at 64

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved music editor passed away on 16 December 2022. Ledesma’s cause of death is undisclosed out of respect for his grieving family. Including his wife, two daughters, sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. We will surely update the article in case of revelation.

Chris Ledesma leaves an extensive legacy as the music editor of The Simpsons. He worked on every single episode from the first till 734. The animated series premiered on Fox in 1989 and Ledesma was an irreplaceable part of it through the seasons.

  • He was filling in as a music editor on Fox’s The Tracey Ullman Show when The Simpsons premiered as a series. Back then, it was merely a compilation of shorts playing in between shows and commercial breaks. On 22 November 1989, the spinoff started and it included Chris Ledesma as the music editor.
  • The famous music editor once shared his first emotions about The Simpsons through his blog in 2011. He was a little skeptical of turning the little 30, and at times 60 second, features during the Tracey Ullman Show into a full-fledged show with a half-an-hour running time. However, all of that went straight out the window as soon as he saw the first two episodes.

  • Later in September 2021 while reminiscing about the show, Ledesma shared a new realization in a Tweet. In his Tweet, he excitedly stated that he was with The Simpsons for more than half his life. He shared the math converting his age and the years worked on the show into days. At the time of the Tweet, he was 23,242 days old and was part of The Simpsons as an employee for 11,621 of them. He boasted that this is a rare and precious milestone achieved by him.
  • Unfortunately, he left the show in May with his final Simpson episode. The episode aired in November as the eighth installment of Season 34. Upon his unexpected death, the series paid tribute to him on Sunday night with an end title card reading, “In loving memory of Chris Ledesma.”

Works of Chris Ledesma

Chris Ledesma started playing piano at the age of three by listening to it and proceeded to have a memorable career in the music industry. He decided to officially pursue the career while at CalArts and was also an orchestral conducting major at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

  • Ledesma joined as an apprentice music editor at the leading music editing house Segue Music in 1985. Here he handled MTM Enterprises shows Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere. Further, he worked for Music Design Group and launched his own company, Click Track Inc. in 1992.

  • He also worked on Hallmark Hall of Fame telefilms, the 1988 miniseries War and Remembrance, and the 1993 TV movie Gypsy – earning Emmy nominations for the latter two.
  • Some of his other famous works include Back in the U.S.S.R. and Dark Shadows (1991), Pure Country (1992), Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995), Blast From the Past and Dudley Do-Right (1999).
