A gripping search operation is underway in the North Atlantic to locate a missing submersible with five passengers on board. The tourist submarine Titan was en route to the wreckage of the Titanic when it went missing. Now, two search crews have reported hearing mysterious banging sounds near where the submarine vanished.
Leaked emails and reports from intergovernmental agencies have shed light on the details surrounding these unexplained noises. Let’s take a look at the mystery of the missing Titanic submersible, the leaked emails and details about the five individuals on board.
Banging noises from the Titanic submersible
According to multiple reports, a Canadian aircraft and a research group called the Explorers’ Club detected peculiar banging and tapping sounds close to the location where the tourist submarine went missing.
These reports have fueled speculation that the submarine’s crew members are alive and signaling for help from inside. While the source remains uncertain, these noises are a significant development in the search efforts for the Titanic submersible.
Canadian P-3 aircraft detected underwater noises in the search area. As a result, ROV operations were relocated in an attempt to explore the origin of the noises. Those ROV searches have yielded negative results but continue. 1/2

Although initial searches using underwater drones yielded negative results, the data obtained from the aircraft will guide future search plans. The Explorers’ Club expressed their confidence based on the field data suggesting likely signs of life near the site.
However, the signs of life and the noises could also be coming from the Titanic wreckage, its metal debris and organisms living near the ocean bed.
Exploring the leaked emails about the submersible
Alleged emails between government agencies regarding the search and rescue operations have been leaked. The emails have confirmed the banging sounds near the distress position, picked up by the Canadian aircraft with advanced sonar technology.

One particular email exchange from the US Department of Homeland Security revealed that the sonar-detected noises occurred approximately every 30 minutes. Additional sonar deployment confirmed the persistence of these banging sounds in the Titanic submersible.
The leaked emails also reflect Canada’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre‘s efforts to get help from partner organizations to send an underwater remote-operated vehicle. This would find out the source of the noise and offer more insights.
What happened to the Titanic Submersible, and who is inside it?
The Titan submersible was carrying five individuals to explore the remains of the famed Titanic’s wreckage at the bottom of the ocean. The privately-owned and operated submersible went missing on 18 June.
The passengers on board include British explorer and billionaire businessman Hamish Harding, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French underwater wreck expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani nationals Shahzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman.
As the search operation continues, the families of the missing crew members anxiously await news. US Coast Guard officials have estimated that the submarine has enough oxygen to last three days.
