Donald Trump attacks Manhattan attorney and his family

Former US President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his family members. The DA was overseeing the hush money case which resulted in Trump’s historic indictment. Addressing his supporters, Trump made bold claims that the real criminal was the DA for leaking information to the press. He called for his resignation and prosecution.

Donald Trump used the Truth Social platform to make insulting remarks about Alvin Bragg’s wife and Justice Juan Merchan’s daughter. He pointed out that his wife had tweeted that the charges will “nail” Donald Trump. Since then, her Twitter account has been locked. The former President remarked that he is facing “a Trump-hating judge with a Trump-hating family, whose daughter worked for Kamala Harris.” He even went as far as posting a picture of Alvin Bragg’s daughter on Truth Social.

Trump’s beef with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg

After pleading not guilty to charges related to alleged hush-money payments, Former President Trump spoke out against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg while at Mar-a-Lago. Trump’s comments suggested that he was surprised by the situation and did not expect such things to happen in America.

He criticized Alvin Bragg by calling him a “Soros-backed prosecutor” who ran for office on a platform of pursuing Trump. According to Trump, Bragg is a local district attorney who has failed in his job, as he is charging a former US President for the first time in history.

Trump also claimed that legal experts and pundits have all agreed that there is no case against him, and accused Bragg of knowing this and still pursuing the charges.

The legal implications against the former US President

Trump’s attack on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his family came after his unprecedented arraignment. A Manhattan grand jury indicted him for repeatedly and fraudulently falsifying New York business records. This happened during the 2016 presidential election, so as to hide damaging information from the public.

Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York did not charge Trump in 2019 over payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal. The investigation into the matter ended in 2021.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is accusing Trump of falsifying New York business records. This implies that he hid unlawful activity and damaging information from American voters before and after the 2016 election.

The hush money case against Donald Trump and his 2024 campaign

The former president got charged with 34 felonies related to hush money payments during the 2016 campaign. Trump still plans to run for president in 2024 despite the charges. He claims that the case is fake and only meant to interfere with the election.
