Terrence Romeo and Kyt Jimenez

Dreams do come true. Social media star and YouTube star Krystoff “Kyt” Jimenez fulfills his lifelong dream after his name gets called up during the 2023 PBA Rookie draft. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) standout was filled with extreme happiness and brought to tears after the San Miguel Beermen took him as the 76th overall pick in this year’s draft.

Fans were patiently waiting for Kyt’s name to be mentioned, and as the event was about to come to an end, it seemed like Kyt’s PBA hopes were over. Fortunately, the 26-year-old basketball sensation was selected late in the 9th round by the San Miguel Beermen. Kyt Jimenez was in tears, and fans were cheering and rooting for him. Even though he was the 76th pick, pandemonium broke out as Kyt walked to the center stage.

In an interview during the after-event, Kyt Jimenez told the reporter, “It feels like I’m in heaven because I’ve been dreaming about this since I was a child.” Moreover, he mentioned that he did not expect to be picked by a powerhouse team, ergo San Miguel, where his idol Terrence Romeo currently plays.

Not only did Kyt Jimenez achieve his goal of being drafted by a PBA team, but he also got the privilege to potentially play and become teammates with his idol, Terrence Romeo. Despite being picked late in the draft, Kyt was still ecstatic to know that he would get to practice with one of PBA’s greatest point guards. Moreover, he will also be sharing the court with the GOAT, June Mar Fajardo, and other San Miguel veterans.

Although his role in the team is currently being evaluated, Kyt Jimenez is not guaranteed a roster spot. As the 76th pick, Kyt still has to prove to the organization what he is capable of. Moreover, he’ll be battling with a roster spot against former Ateneo standout John Troy Malilin, MPBL star Jayson Apolonio, Itchie Altamirano, John Gob, Jayvee Dela Cruz, and Jamel Ramos.

Who is Kyt Jimenez?

Krystoff “Kyt” Jimenez graduated from the University of Perpetual Help-DALTA. He was formerly a collegiate basketball player in the NCAA. The young blood was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but raised in Quezon City. He showed quite a talent in the sport during his collegiate career with UPH. However, an ACL tear had him lay-lowed in basketball.

The 5-foot-11 drew crowds wherever he played. May it be professional matchups or pickup games in various towns in the Philippines, all eyes are on the talented baller. Kyt formerly played for Coach Mavs’ (Mavrick Bautista) Phenomenal Basketball. However, Kyt left in 2022 and started his own channel, Kyt Jimenez TRX. Subsequently, he also took his talents to MPBL. There, he made history in October last year by accruing a quadruple-double record in an OKbet-MPBL match against Mindoro. It’s been almost a year since his exceptional MPBL performance. Since then, fans have been wondering what’s the next step in his career. Well, he answered those questions by entering the PBA season 48 draft on September 17, 2023.
