American actor James Earl Jones is popular for his performances on theater and television. He has also been called “one of America’s most distinguished and versatile” actors and “one of the greatest actors in American history”, only because of his acting. “A stirring basso profondo that has lent gravel and gravitas” has been said about Jones’ voice while praising his efforts.

He has won a Grammy Award, two Emmy Awards, and three Tony Awards over his career. In 1985, he was admitted to the American Theater Hall of Fame. Moreover, he received the Kennedy Centre Honour in 2002, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2009, the National Medal of Arts in 1992, and the Honorary Academy Award in 2011.

His most well-known roles were Terrence Mann in Field of Dreams and Mufasa in The Lion King movie. He also provided the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars film series. His distinctive bass voice makes him easy to identify.

Recently, Jones is trending on Twitter. Just a day ago, the world lost another legend, the Queen of Rock n’ Roll, Tina Turner. Now that Jones is trending for some reason, it has people worried. Especially the fact that he is 91 years old.

Thankfully, one social media user explains that there was a poll earlier on Twitter. The question was, “What voice actor crushed a roll so hard that nobody else will be able to live up to it?” Apparently, people answered the iconic James Earl Jones.

  • This is because, since 1977, James Earl Jones has horrified audiences throughout the galaxy as Darth Vader, the unnamed nemesis of the well-known Star Wars trilogy.

Who is James Earl Jones?

Jones, who was born as a stuttering child, has said that poetry and acting have helped him get over the condition. He studied pre-medicine in college and served in the US Army during the Korean War before deciding to become an actor.

  • He has appeared in many Shakespearean plays since his Broadway debut in 1957, including Othello, Hamlet, Coriolanus, and King Lear. In 1968, Jones’ performance in The Great White Hope earned him his first Tony Award.
  • Jones later recreated the part in the 1970 film adaptation, which earned him nominations for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Since then, Jones continued to work steadily in theater.

At the Manistee, Michigan’s Ramsdell Theatre, Jones made his acting debut. He worked as a stage carpenter in 1953. Between 1955 and 1957, he managed productions while acting, and also played Othello there.

Some fans imagined the worst. They thought that given that he has seen 9 decades, James Earl Jones has probably passed away.
