Ubisoft Gifts Devs Ghost Recon NFTs; Celebrates 20th Anniversary

A sizable portion of gaming news is still dominated by NFTs. Several corporations are abandoning their NFT ambitions, while others remain strong supporters of these cryptocurrencies. Ubisoft’s position on NFTs has sparked a backlash from a number of developers, many of which were displeased with their view. Interestingly, Ubisoft has decided to thank its staff by giving them a set of NFTs they designed themselves.

Ghost Recon 20th Anniversary

Specifically, numerous Ghost Recon devs have gotten NFTs to “celebrate” the series’ 20th anniversary. NFTs were created in response to a Ghost Recon staff member who claimed that they are opposed to NFTs and who was urged by Ubisoft to obtain their own for free in order to test the alleged benefits.

Ubisoft’s recent action is only the latest in a long-running dispute. Quartz, Ubisoft’s NFT trading platform, isn’t understood by gamers, according to them, pointing out that they don’t know what a digital secondary market can offer them. Additionally, they said that this is all about allowing players to resale their stuff once they’ve finished using them or the game itself. Pointing out that it is truly useful but that we don’t recognize it yet.

“Well, it was a reaction we were expecting. I think gamers don’t get what a digital secondary market can bring to them. The end game is about giving players the opportunity to resell their items once they’re finished with them or they’re finished playing the game itself. So, it’s really, for them. It’s really beneficial. But they don’t get it for now.”
