Uncharted 5 – What we know so far

Sony and its exclusive releases have been making a noise since forever. One of the biggest franchises that the company released was the God of War series. Last year, they came with Ragnarok which fans and gamers loved and recognized. Another Sony franchise that’s known to the players would be the Uncharted series. Sony Interactive Entertainment published the Uncharted game franchise and Naughty Dog takes responsibility for developing the game. An Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection came to the market last year, 2022. With the game’s huge popularity, the circulating question “Will there be an Uncharted 5?” remains. And to answer that here’s what we know so far about Sony’s Uncharted 5!

Uncharted franchise

If we set aside the Uncharted Collection release last year, it’s been almost six years since the franchise released something new. Way back in 2017, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy shocked gamers. The Lost Legacy revolved around an Uncharted supporting character, Chloe Frazer. The game does not belong to the game series, but rather a standalone extension of Uncharted 4.

  • The main reason for the surprise is that everyone felt and knew that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (2016) was the actual end. Well, based on the title, and the storyline of the game, you would probably agree that Nathan Drake’s story has concluded. However, we can also see a vision that Nate and Elena’s daughter, Cassie, may become the next protagonist of the game.

About Uncharted 5

Cassie may have inherited the sense of adventure and exploration of both her parents. If we think about it, Nate’s daughter certainly fits the role of another Uncharted game, but this time, with a woman lead. Can you imagine it already? And after the numerous rumors starting last year (a few years ago maybe), Sony isn’t slick enough with their recently released Sony PlayStation 5 trailer. Or they purposely did that?

  • Going back to the PS5 trailer, you can hover at the point 0:43 mark. There should be a woman holding a torch, probably in a cave. Fast eyes would be needed for you to capture that! Also, at mark 0:47 too, seriously, it’s sudden, but we hope you got a glimpse! It looks like a grown-up Cassie doing an adventure on her own. We could be wrong though, but we could be right too!

  • Anyway, this short and quick stint got into fans quickly, and now back with the question. One thing can be made sure though, Naughty Dog would not be developing the (possibly) Sony-exclusive Uncharted 5 anymore. According to the BuzzFeed interview with Naughty Dog’s co-president Neil Druckmann said, “Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”

Will there be another game?

With the recently released trailer from Sony, we can say that it is possible. There may be no confirmation as of this moment, but we hope we can hear from them soon. Pretty sure other developers can pick up where Naughty Dog left off in the Uncharted franchise, especially when Sony publishes it still.

  • If ever an Uncharted 5 would come to the gaming market, we should be ready to welcome a new protagonist. Along with the original developer, Nathan Drake would probably sign off from the game as well.

  • And since we saw a possible Cassie in a trailer for the Sony PlayStation 5, we can also look forward that Uncharted 5 should be another Sony exclusive. Moreover, and much certain that the game may be available for the Sony PlayStation 5 consoles only. But, hmm, knowing Sony, hopefully, they can release for PlayStation 4 version too!

We hope the glimpse at the trailer is enough for us to expect an upcoming Uncharted game! A new journey with a new lead, hmm, that sounds like an adventure for the possible new Uncharted 5.
