The Offseason in the NBA is one of the most awaited times in the sport. It features an array of good players that will become free agents. A Lot of fine and young talents are already at the end of their contracts. Take a look at some of the most underrated free agent stars this coming offseason:
Collin Sexton (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Sexton, a 6’1” point guard who is currently playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers is an explosive and extremely quick point guard. Sexton was drafted 8th overall in the 2018 draft class which features Luka Doncic, Trae Young, DeAndre Ayton, and Michael Porter Jr.
OTHER NEWS: The Never-Ending Sixers Drama; Ben Simmons Out?
He averaged a career-high 24.3 points per game last season (2020-2021). His numbers may have dropped, but he is still a rising star. In other words, he still has time to develop into a better player. Additionally, he has a very high ceiling. Sexton is expected to return next season after experiencing a possible season-ending knee injury. Teams like Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to sign the young gun.
DeAndre Ayton (Phoenix Suns)
Ayton is a member of the number one team in the league today, the Phoenix Suns. He has been a solid centerpiece in the regular-season success of this team. Ayton is averaging a terrific double-double 16 PPG and 10 RPG this season.
The Detroit Pistons could pursue Ayton if the Suns do not offer him a max contract. An athletic center with elite rebounding skills, empathic scoring abilities, and a muscle down low inside the paint can help teams like Sacramento, Dallas, or the Warriors.
Dennis Schroeder (Boston Celtics)
Dennis Schroeder is currently playing for the Boston Celtics. Averaging a respectable 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds a game. A solid point guard who can do a bit of everything.
Even with various issues, Schroeder continued playing his usual self and became a good role player for the team. Teams interested in Schroeder: Miami Heat and New York Knicks.
Joe Ingles (Portland Trail Blazers)
Ingles, the Australian phenom has been a good role player for the Utah Jazz. Joe has been a pretty legit scorer. For a limited playing time, he averaged 11 points a night which is pretty impressive for a reserve.
OTHER NEWS: What Is Going On with the Los Angeles Lakers?
Ingles suffered a torn ACL, which had cut his season short. If, and hopefully, Joe recovers soon, the teams that could possibly sign him are the Hawks and the Sixers. His strong scoring ability can be of great use for the second unit in these teams.
Robert Covington (Los Angeles Clippers)
Robert Covington is an elite defensive specialist. Most teams will look for a guy like him, a 3-and-D guy.
He was just traded by the Blazers to the Clippers through a three-team trade after the trade deadline. Will he stay with the Clippers? Most probably, yes. Teams interested in Covington: Cavaliers, Timberwolves, and the Jazz.
Montrezl Harrell (Charlotte Hornets)
Trez is a flexible player with great rebounding, footwork, and post-game. Dennis Rodman plus the ability to score. The result? A complete role player. To add, Harrel was the 2019-2020 sixth man of the year.
This season, he has averaged 14 points, 7 boards, and 2 dimes a game. Dallas Mavericks is looking to sign Harrel for additional power in the paint.
