Valorant: The big Chamber nerf will shake up the meta in 5.12

Chamber is arguably the strongest agent in the game right now. His ability to move around the map and have guns at his disposal means he’s a threat at any stage. The Sentinel has become a staple of both the ranked and competitive scene of Valorant. He boasts the highest play rate with a win rate that puts him in a class above all other agents.

However, that is changing in the upcoming patch as Riot wants to address the French gunmaker’s dominance.

What are the Chamber Nerfs?

Chamber’s current state was deemed unhealthy by Riot Games, and now there will be changes to his entire kit. Here’s a breakdown of what’s different with his abilities in the new patch.

Headhunter Q

His Q will now have lesser reliability when spamming as Riot changed its stability curve. That means that its second successive bullet will have an increased spread. The goal here is to make Chamber players reliant on those one-tap headshots as their intention.

Rendezvous E

Rendezvous anchors are now down to one, but its range increases to 13 meters. Equipping also takes 0.3 seconds longer though it no longer has a cooldown when picked up. Instead, you can teleport to the anchor like before. You can no longer use it for the rest of the round when destroyed.

Trademark C

Chamber lines up with most other sentinels, as his trap will now deactivate when he is out of its range. You can now recall it due to the change, and it no longer requires a line of sight. The arming time is now four seconds from its pre-patch two though its health increased to 20 from 1.

This new restriction will let the enemy team know if Chamber is nearby. If it isn’t active, he is no longer in the vicinity. Chamber players must now account for this new mechanic.

Tour De Force X

Chamber’s ultimate now only has a four-second slow compared to the six before. Its fire rate has been reduced by 57%, making second chances significantly slower.

A Give and Take

These changes will hopefully bring down Chamber’s dominance in the upcoming patch. What the meta will shape up to become is anyone’s guess. His play rate will likely lower, opening up opportunities for other Sentinels like the recently buffed Chamber.

Reyna is also on the rise as one of the strongest duelists since her buff. With the Chamber out of the way, we may see more duelists in our lobbies than before. It will be interesting to see which Sentinel will become the primary choice after the nerfs.

Other Updates

Aside from the nerf, the episodical Night Market will be returning next week. Here’s to hoping we get good discounts on some of the game’s coolest skins. The sale will usually last for a week, and the guns offered will vary depending on the player.
