Rajesh Devare, a senior police inspector from Bandra police station said that they received a call from a local resident about the accident and that Kambli was trying to flee the area.

The patrolling vehicle near Lilavati Hospital was then alerted and the officers intercepted Kambli’s car and brought him to the police station. He went under a medical examination that established that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. However, he posted bail that permits his temporary freedom the same day.

Vinod Kambli

The former Indian cricketer is known for his unbroken partnership of 664 runs with Sachin Tendulkar in a school cricket match. His international career started on a very good note. He scored two double-centuries and two tons in his first eight Test innings.

However, his team dropped him after being out of form. Since then, he couldn’t make a comeback to the Indian cricket team. Some experts have the opinion that if he was more given opportunities than he would have been more successful than Sachin Tendulkar.

Vinod Kambli always remains in the light of controversies. Last year, cyber fraudsters duped the former India cricketer for Rs 1 lakh.
