Riot Games has been paving its way quite aggressively into the world of mobile gaming. Yet there is no word as to when there would be a console release for Valorant.

The game’s developers are researching various methods to make auto battlers and MOBAs compatible with a controller. Games with hero shooters like Overwatch and Apex Legends have successfully ported onto the consoles. This indicates that, indeed, Valorant will make a strong candidate for a console release.

Will Valorant Ever Make its Way to Consoles?

“While we are exploring other platforms like console and mobile, right now the team is working hard to deliver a top-notch experience on PC.”
– Joseph Ziegler, Riot Games Developer

Since Valorant release, the game has been PC-exclusive. While developers have dropped vague hints about porting the game to different platforms, no official statements have been confirmed yet.

In the same year, data miners found some hidden files that reflected the ideas of console and mobile versions of the game. Due to Riot Games’ focus on Shanghai’s Console market, it appears like Valorant will be arriving in console shortly. Valorant had already been rumored to be heading to consoles for quite some time. With the new company and an emphasis on platform games, the dream may finally come true.

The Hold-Up

Developers have their doubts regarding the recreation of the same level of experience PC provides to consoles. That in all will pose to be a difficult task. Riot Games furthermore is skeptical about the competitive integrity in consoles. They are worried whether consoles will provide the same competitive integrity or not. This is probably the major hold-up as to why Riot Games is not rushing into the idea of releasing Valorant to consoles.

However, the gameplay and restricted skills of Valorant are ideal for console gaming. The console release would be a game-changer, especially for console-only gamers who could only enviously watch PC players on Twitch.
