Kobe Paras was released by Altiri Chiba earlier this year
Kobe Paras was one of the first Filipino players in Japan’s B.League. In September 2021, the athletic forward signed a contract with the Niigata Albirex BB and immediately impressed the league with his 25-point debut. However, a year after being with the team, Albirex BB decided not to renew Paras.
Altiri Chiba announced its release of Filipino import, Kobe Paras, after a mutual agreement from both parties.

In June 2022, Kobe Paras would find another opportunity in another B.League team, the Altiri Chiba. Only this time, he is playing in the second division in the same league. Unfortunately, Kobe would only average 5.3 points, 1.0 assists, and 0.9 rebounds, which prompted a mutual agreement of the Filipino star parting ways with the Japanese basketball club in March 2023.
Right now, Kobe Paras seems to be temporarily stepping away from basketball to focus on himself
Back in July, Kobe Paras became the cover of MEGA Man’s Magazine. In the cover story, Paras talked about how he plans to step away from the life he had known since he was just a child and how he wants to do the things he loves aside from basketball. The 25-year-old basketball sensation even mentioned becoming a chef because he loved how his grandmother cooked Filipino dishes for him. Deep inside, he always knew he was interested in food and cooking. But, his basketball career came first as his path was already laid out right before him as soon as he learned to hold the ball.

Kobe Paras, the son of PBA legend Benjie Paras, was slated to follow in his father’s footsteps. At one point in his career, Filipinos believed that Kobe could be the first Pinoy in the NBA. However, that did not pan out. Kobe played high school and college basketball in the U.S.. In 2021, Kobe committed to the NBA draft but unfortunately went undrafted.

Paras has represented the Philippines in various international tournaments. Moreover, he found some great opportunities overseas by playing in Japan. Although it seems Kobe won’t play basketball for a while, the Filipino star is still living his life. He is also a famous social media influencer, model, and television personality. Also, his love life is blossoming, and his relationship with Erika Poturnak (Ina Raymundo’s daughter) is still strong. It will take longer before we see Kobe Paras back on the court, but his fans are rooting for his well-being.
