This week, Grammy-winning musician Bonnie Raitt announced via different social media that her May tour dates have been postponed because of a “medical situation” that required surgery.
Her agents claimed that in order for her to heal completely, the doctors advised that she take a few weeks off from performing. Raitt was forced to postpone and cancel her gigs as a result.
Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend will not feature 73-year-old Raitt as a performer. She was supposed to perform there in two weeks. The schedule set for May 17 to 23 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Athens, Georgia, will take place after a certain point of time.
Bonnie Raitt reschedules tour due to health problems
Raitt recently provided her followers with an update on her health after the cancellation of the first part of her tour due to unforeseen medical issues. However, details about her current medical condition have not been revealed yet.
She and her team thanked her fans for their support and well wishes. In a message shared on her Facebook and Instagram account, she updated her fans on her situation. Furthermore, the posts also confirmed Bonnie’s recovery status.
A picture of a beaming Bonnie was included in the post. It also revealed that she will be performing with James Taylor and the All-Star Band on June 22 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bonnie admitted that she was disappointed about having to postpone her concerts.
“We’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st,” the statement also read. Tickets for the original dates will still be valid for the rescheduled performances, according to the announcement.
Raitt’s Just Like That tour included the postponed performances. It started last year in support of her studio album of the same name. She had not traveled since 2019 before this tour.
Moreover, her Indianapolis performance has been moved to July 1 and her Louisville performance has been moved to June 30. The performances in Pittsburgh and Athens have not been scheduled yet.
Her team also shared a similar tweet on her Twitter account.
Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address. The doctors say that in order for her to heal properly, they recommend she not perform for a couple of weeks.

The title track from Raitt’s album, Just Like That, won the Song of the Year award at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in February, 2023.
After this, she shared a heartfelt message on her Facebook, expressing her gratitude to her fans and supporters.
Moreover, she released her 21st album last year on her own Redwing Records label. Just Like That was taken from that record. The band recorded the album in Sausalito and also included guitarist Kenny Greenberg, bassist James Hutchinson, drummer Ricky Fataar, and pianist Glenn Patscha.
She has garnered praise from critics and garnered a devoted fanbase in the blues and rock genres due to her deep voice and guitar prowess.
