Park Hyung-Sik is starring in the tvN Historical K-drama Our Blooming Youth which will add to the success track of 2023 K-dramas from February.

2023 is a great year for K-drama fans where it started with the record-breaking success of Netflix’s The Glory and has promising new dramas coming ahead. It will also be the year of new seasons beginning with season 2 of Alchemy of Souls.

  • Adding to this rising chart is Park Hyung-sik starrer tvN’s upcoming K-drama Our Blooming Youth. It is a youth redemption romance that tells the story of a mysterious cursed crown prince and a genius girl who is accused of murdering her family.
  • The drama will focus on the spirit of the youth of Joseon. In the midst of this, the released character poster and teaser introduced characters who will work together toward the same goal.

Character-driven story

In total 6 character posters of various colors are unveiled hinting towards the spectrum of the plot, the drama will portray. Most awaited is Lee Hwan (Park Hyung-sik), who is a lonely crown prince under a mysterious curse. The character will juggle the dignity of a crown prince and mystery following the unknown curse.

  • Next is Min Jae-yi (Jeon So-nee), a genius girl who pursues the truth while being framed for murdering her family. She will show the courage that stands against heavy currents. Meanwhile facing trials to uncover the facts about her family’s deaths and prove her own innocence.
  • Min Jae-yi, who became a murderer overnight has only one reliable person next to her- Jang Ga-ram (Pyo Ye-jin). She is in a tough situation here and is one of the main characters.
  • Han Seong-on (Yoon Jong-seok), is Min Jae-yi’s fiancé and Lee-hwan’s friend. He comes from a prestigious family and has everything but loses his love. He faces an unfortunate situation for even the fate of his fiancé who is on the run is unknown.

  • Kim Myung-jin (Lee Tae-sun), is Joseon’s best scholar and comic relief in K-drama. His unique relationship with Jang Ga-ram will be one of the highlights. 
  • Lastly, Choi Tae-gang (Heo Won-seo), is a guardian of the crown prince. He is a dignified figure which is making the audience anticipate how he will protect his cursed master.
  • It will be exciting to see how K-drama is driven by the youthful synergy of characters that come together beyond social status and gender.

Veteran Actors in Supporting Starcast

The tvN drama Our Blooming Youth revealed the reputed supporting cast. Including veteran actors Jo Sung-ha, Jung Woong-in, Son Byeong-ho, Lee Jong-hyuk, and Hong Soo-hyun

  • Jo Sung-ha takes on the role of Han Jung-won, the head of the prestigious Yeongsan Han clan and left-wing councilor. As a family of military officials who have been together since the founding of Joseon, they believe that the main axis leading Joseon is the prime ministers, not the king.
  • Jung Woong-in takes on the role of Cho Won-bo, a friend of the Seongju Jo family, who opposes Han Jung-won. Cho Won-bo is a greedy figure controlling the personnel and financial rights of the court with his nephew’s backing.

  • Between the power struggle between these two An-jik (Son Byeong-ho) spreads warmth inside the palace as a neutral character.
  • Lee Jong-hyeok and Hong Soo-hyun play the role of a king and queen. During the turmoil, The king with a fiery temper stands in favor of the Crown Prince.

Our Blooming Youth Release Date and Where To Stream

The much-awaited 2023 youth redemption historical K-drama, Our Blooming Youth will air for the first time at 8:50 pm on the 6th of February through tvN. It will have 20 episodes that you can stream from Rakuten Viki.
