Will 2K23 be the Best NBA game ever created? All new features & more

NBA 2K23 Features

Since the new millennium, NBA 2K has been the go-to franchise when it comes to the virtual basketball experience. It surpassed the struggling NBA Live (EA Games) a long time ago and has already taken hold of the genre for a long time now. Unfortunately, players are getting fed up with NBA 2K now becoming a constant cash-grab series with a redundant and repetitive output. Now, it’s time for us to breathe fresh air with the latest official title of the renowned NBA 2K series, NBA 2K23.

According to Ronnie 2K (Ronnie Singh), the digital marketing director of 2K games, NBA 2k23 will be the best game they’ve ever released. His words, not ours. But, with the game’s latest updates, this could all answer the question – Will NBA 2K23 really be the best game they created so far? Scroll down below to know the answer to this conundrum.

NBA 2K23: Becoming the best among the rest

Every year, NBA 2K flexes their usual upgrade, the graphics, and visuals. But, this year, there’s more to it than just the semi-realistic LeBron James drenched in sweat. Of course, the roster updates will still be there as part of the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.

Just recently, NBA released all of the upcoming updates and we are all for it! Some of the best features we think to support our case as to why NBA 2K23 could be their best game yet are all listed below:

Shooting made more authentic

Every year, NBA 2K wants to capture that realistic shooting model. Although they came close on some occasions, NBA 2K23 could take home the title as the best NBA 2K game with the most realistic shot.

Because of that, the developers are adding these major modifications to tweak the shooting fundamentals in the game.

  • Shot Speed – How quickly the shot gets to its ideal release point
  • Release Height – How high the shot is released
  • Defensive Immunity – How effective the shot is against defensive contests
  • Timing Impact – Adjusts shot windows to reward good timing at the cost of an increased penalty for bad timing

Along with these are the additional jump shot animations. They also promised that the quantity of these animations be double the amount of every 2K has ever had.

Shot Meters and where to find them

As announced on their website, NBA 2K23 will boast 20 different shot meters. 5 of them initially be given while the other 15 will be unlocked in the next 2k23 seasons.

The Pro Stick upgrade you never thought you needed

When you thought the game’s controls couldn’t get any better, yet, here we are. NBA 2K23 may have heard the rumbling prayers of some gamers to improve its pro stick. NBA 2K is bringing better things to the table with the all-new “double throws” and “switchbacks” gesture. Both of these are used to enhance your dribbling and shooting ability in the game, creating a better basketball experience.

  • Double throws – flicking the Pro Stick in a direction, letting it go back to center, and then quickly moving the Pro Stick back in the same direction
  • Switchbacks – flicking the Pro Stick in a direction, letting it center, and then quickly moving the Pro Stick in the opposite direction

Adrenaline Boosts + Attacking the Rim: Out with the old, in with the new

Now, don’t get this one wrong. 2K wants you to experience the most realistic NBA experience and they’re giving it now to you.

Gone are the days of over-dribbling and suddenly attacking the paint with ease. Forget all of that as NBA 2K23 is focusing more on the OFFENSIVE aspect of the game. In the past, we solely rely on the stamina bar to judge whether the player is still capable of making the shot effectively or not.

However, with the new Adrenaline Boost feature, it will become more complicated to make buckets. It will be added next to the stamina bar and each player will be given three small bars of adrenaline boost per possession. Each bar will be consumed every time you try to dribble the ball, penetrate the basket, or do an extreme sprint.

Top that with new offensive weapons you can use such as new dunking controls, finishing with style, flashy offensive combinations, and a more authentic shooting, it’s going to be something to look out for.

Show me your BADGE!

NBA 2K MyPlayer will never be complete without incorporating your favorite badges. And, 2K23 does not want any part of the old badges, they want new and improved ones. We listed all of the new badges as well as previous ones which were announced to be removed.

After the wonderful news that NBA has agreed to pay $24.5 Million to 115 former ABA (American Basketball Association) players, the “Round Mound of Rebound” (Charles Barkley) could finally appear in the next NBA 2K game.

In the past, Chuck never wanted to be part of any 2K game as he feels that former players, including himself, are under-compensated even though their image and likeness are being used by the league and the game. With what he has been fighting for is coming to an end, sir Charles might be added to the game soon.
