Following the success of God of War: Ragnarok, a lot of fans have been left wondering whether there will be a next game in store for them. Although nothing has been confirmed by Sony Santa Monica, the ending to Ragnarok definitely opens up a lot of possibilities for a follow-up to Kratos’ and Atreus’ adventures. During a recent panel for God of War, the voice actor for Tyr sparked up conversations of a next God of War game after Ragnarok as he claims, “[This] isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.”
Voice actor for Tyr allegedly claims the Norse god of war is returning
First reported by Shark Games, Tyr’s voice actor guested at a God of War panel which took place at Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East. While talking about his character’s role in the story of Ragnarok, he hinted at a next God of War game.
The panel was supposed to focus on going behind the scenes with those involved in God of War: Ragnarok’s creation. However, fans left with hope of a new God of War game when Tyr’s voice actor hinted at a potential sequel.
- Ben Prendergast, also known for voicing Fuse in Apex Legends, began talking about his character’s role in the story.

To get you up to speed, Tyr played an essential part in the plot of God of War: Ragnarok.
- Since he is the god of war in Norse Mythology, Atreus believed that he would be the only one powerful enough to stop Odin. The father and son duo eventually find him in the second chapter of the game. From there, Tyr comes along and assists in their adventures throughout the different realms.
- God of War: Ragnarok’s biggest plot twist also involves Tyr, something that players won’t see coming at all. If you haven’t finished the game yet, we suggest you get moving and experience that epic plot twist for yourself.

Prendergast subtly hints at Tyr coming back after the events of Ragnarok
Throughout the panel, it was just the guests talking about how God of War: Ragnarok became one of the best games released last year. Fans were definitely caught off-guard at what Prendergast had to say about his character. Quick warning that there are major spoilers for God of War: Ragnarok ahead!
- At the end of the game, we can find the real Tyr locked away in some prison by Odin. With the discovery that he actually is alive, maybe it might restore some peace and balance in the realms after the fall of Valhalla.
- Once Kratos and Freya free him, he is able to travel across the different realms with ease. This detail is important to remember since it may be vital in the next God of War game.
- Prendergast dropped hints throughout the panel about his character’s future in the franchise. “And I’ll say this, it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr,” were some of his final words to the audience.
- The voice actor also revealed that he knew a little bit about the future of God of War. However, he had to keep his lips sealed about those details. It isn’t a direct confirmation of an upcoming God of War game, but we’ll take it!

There are tons of possibilities with what will happen to the God of War franchise
Tyr’s voice actor didn’t outright say that there is a next God of War game in development. Prendergast’s remarks can hint at a lot of things since the future looks bright for the franchise. It’s possible that this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Tyr since he might be part of the God of War TV show in development.
The show is said to follow the events of God of War (2018). Who knows if they would include the events of Ragnarok, too? Following the success of The Last of Us TV show, seeing Tyr in the series is not at all far-fetched.

For now, all we can do is wait for any announcements from Sony Santa Monica. Whether Tyr shows up in the series or plays another important part in the next God of War game, it’s clear that he’s not done yet. Kratos, Freya, and Atreus all have new beginnings ahead of them, too.
