Witcher 3 Next Gen Update Might Be Delayed

Witcher 3 Next Gen Update Might Be Delayed

Witcher 3 is often considered to be one of the best games ever made as well as one of the best RPGs of all time. In the first-ever Witchercon earlier this year, the next-gen update for Witcher 3 was announced. This update called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will be coming for all platforms. It will also be making a debut on PS5 and Xbox Series. It was supposed to release this autumn, but it might be delayed now, and so might Cyberpunk 2077.

The Possible Delay

CD Projekt Red listed “late 2021” as the timeframe for these upgrades in its financial report for the first half of the year. At the Witchercon autumn was stated as the release date for the next-gen update. Michal Nowakowski, the senior vice president of business development, has now stated that they are trying to release it later this year, but that too isn’t certain.

“With The Witcher 3, the situation is slightly different in the way that this is being tackled by the external team mainly, which is Saber Interactive, the company that we have worked with before on Switch and also with updates in the past”, Nowakowski stated.

Similarly, Cyberpunk 2077’s new-gen update is also being worked upon but might be delayed as well. Around 40 percent of CDPR’s developers are currently working on Cyberpunk 2077 support and the current-gen upgrade. This is owing to the fact that the game has some serious glitches and technical issues which need to be corrected in the next update.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition

All that being said, a delay is possible and not probable so, don’t be disappointed already. They could still match the timeline and release both Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen by December 2021. Till then let us recap what all this complete edition of Witcher 3 will bring:

  • A debut on Play Station 5 and Xbox Series X
  • The next-gen update will be free for everyone who already owns the game
  • New Netflix’ The Witcher inspired DLC. This might include a new skin Henry Cavil for Geralt, armor, and weapons based on the show, etc.
  • Bug and glitch fixes

This upcoming version might mark the end of new developments for Witcher 3 as it is titled “The Complete Edition”. More updates for the 2015’s epic game seem improbable, especially since rumors about Witcher 4 are already in the air.

    1. Hi Rahul! As per CD Projekt Red:

      RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS:

      OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1).
DirectX 11 is necessary to run the game.

PROCESSOR: Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3,4 GHz, AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz

GRAPHICS: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770 or AMD GPU Radeon R9 290

      RAM: 6GB

      DISK SPACE:40 GB

    2. I play Witcher 3 on my HP Pavillion basic gaming laptop. It has a AMD Ryzen 5 processor, Nvidia GTX 4GB graphic card and 8 GB RAM. It is pretty basic but runs it pretty well on High graphics (not ultra HD). So I’ll suggest you have similar PC specs and you’ll be all set. If you get it with all the DLC’s it will require 50GB of your disk space. As a fellow gamer and Witcher fan, do get the DLC’s as well!
