WWE: Seth Rollins’ SummerSlam Match Cancelled; Riddle’s Injury + New Possible Opponent

Sorry WWE fans, you’re just gonna have to wait for a top-tier match that was initially set up for this Saturday’s Summer Slam. WWE announced that the match between Seth Rollins and Riddle will be re-scheduled.

After Seth Rollins’ vicious ambush on Riddle last Monday Night Raw, the latter suffered a “brachial plexus injury” which WWE insiders described as a “stinger”. Rollins attacking Riddle a.k.a. King of Bros was after Riddle’s huge loss at the hands of Roman Reigns and the Bloodline. In usual Rollins fashion, the wrestling star took this opportunity to finish Riddle off in the ring. As a result, Riddle suffered an injury that made him “clinically disqualified” to partake in the upcoming Summer Slam event.

WWE: The two have been going at each other back and forth in recent memory. The beef between Rollins and Riddle has been around since they met for the first time a few years ago.

According to Fightful Select, Riddle’s reported injury is all part of a bigger plan. While there is no specific date or event when a match between Seth Rollins and Riddle will take place, we’re just going to have to look at who could be the possible replacements for Riddle.

These past few months, Seth Rollins has been on top of the food chain as the organization is building up huge fights for the wrestling icon. Just last April, in WrestleMania 38, he squared off against a returning Cody Rhodes. Rhodes was a matchup Rollins didn’t know about (a scheme he is accustomed to). Some think that Rhodes would be the replacement but as avid fans remembered, he also suffered a pectoral injury. Due to that, it’s highly unlikely he will be making a comeback in this weekend’s Summer Slam.

On the other hand, a Randy Orton and Seth Rollins rematch would be a sight to watch. As Riddle’s known tag-team partner, it would be a perfect storyline for a revenge fight. It would be surprising to see RKO hit the stage after a back injury.

Even though the Rollins V Riddle will not happen this Saturday, Seth Rollins would probably be flying to Nashville where Summer Slam was supposed to take place. Would we be seeing a surprise battle come this weekend? We just have to wait and see.
