Xenoblade Chronicles 3 might have one of the most anticipated story expansion releases this year, with lots of fans excited for Future Redeemed to finally arrive on the Nintendo Switch on April 25. However, fans noticed that they could only get the expansion in a digital edition. With this, many are wondering if a physical edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed will be available soon. If so, how much would it cost?

Will Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed have a physical edition?

If you go on official forums like Reddit, a lot of fans are asking the same thing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Nintendo has any plans on releasing a physical edition of Future Redeemed. This certainly comes as a disappointment to many fans since they expected the new story expansion to get the Torna treatment.

  • Torna was an expansion pack released in 2018. It served as a prequel to the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and it also contained tons of new features and improvements missing from the game.
  • Fans received this expansion pack positively especially since Nintendo offered a physical edition of it. With that, they were expecting the same thing from Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. Sadly, there seems to be no word from Nintendo about a physical edition of the expansion coming any time soon.

  • This also doesn’t seem like a bad decision on the publisher’s part. Since Torna is technically the first game if we look at things from a chronological order, it only makes sense that it was released as a standalone title. This might have been a way for the game to entice new players.

  • As for Future Redeemed, it would be hard to keep up with the story in Xenoblade Chronicles so far. You’d have to play through some of the earlier entries in the series in order to understand what’s going on.
  • It’s possible that Nintendo foresaw this dilemma, leading them to not releasing a physical edition of Future Redeemed.

Technically, you can get a physical edition of the game

The physical edition we’re talking about is Xenoblade Chronicles 3, of course. You can buy this either from your local video game retailer or through Nintendo’s online store. However, this won’t automatically include access to Future Redeemed.

As of writing, Nintendo only offers a digital version of Future Redeemed. If you don’t have a copy of the game yet, you can get the Game + DLC bundle. This already includes a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and an Expansion Pass. On the other hand, you can purchase the Expansion Pass separately if you already have the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed introduces new characters to the series

Since this story expansion is a prequel, players can expect to meet new faces. The playable characters we know so far are Matthew, A, Nikol, and Glimmer. However, fans are more than excited to see two familiar faces making their way back into the story. Shulk and Rex, two of the protagonists from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, will seemingly play a big part in the story of Future Redeemed.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed releases on April 25, 2023. You must first own the Expansion Pass in order to access this story.
