Unfortunately, this drama isn’t looking good for Zion. According to a report by NBA insider and SNY reporter Ian Begley, the New Orleans Pelicans organization is shocked by Zion’s recent off-court fiasco.
âHigh-ranking members of the organization have been dismayed by recent off-court developments around Williamson, as other outlets have noted. The organization recently fired assistant coach Teresa Weatherspoon, a Naismith Hall of Famer, who was instrumental in the development of several young Pelicans, including Williamson. Those reading the tea leaves may surmise that Weatherspoonâs firing was related to the teamâs issues with Williamson,â Ian Begley wrote in his report.

Injuries, injuries, and more injuries
Zion Williamson was drafted first overall in 2019. Before entering the league, the Duke star was already considered one of the best prospects since LeBron James. Standing at 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds, Zion was surely a freak of nature with how high he can jump despite his weight. His emphatic dunks and extreme athleticism made him a powerhouse name in college and in the NBA. However, with his body and style of play, it was inevitable that he would suffer injuries – and he truly did.
When healthy, Zion can get 25.8 points and 7 boards a night. The only problem is, he can never stay uninjured. In four seasons, the 22-year-old only played 114 games out of the total 328. Although he only played 29 games in the 2022-2023 season, he was still selected as an All-Star starter. There’s no doubt that if only Zion is available, he can dominate and put up big numbers. Sadly, that’s the very dilemma the New Orleans Pelicans are having in the last four years.
Right now, it seems that the New Orleans Pelicans are really firm on their decision to trade Zion Williamson
As great as he was in his short stint in New Orleans, Zion’s time with them could end within this week. There have been rumored trade packages involving Zion that would send the All-Star forward to Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trailblazers, or any team that would like to take a chance at him. Could we finally be seeing Zion in another uniform next season?
